Well, I had the greatest intentions to write over Christmas and then certainly by New Years. So…happy late New Years & Merry Christmas from us! Christmas was really awesome this year for our family as we had Shasmita with us for the first time to share in our family celebrations. It was SO much fun watching her learn about Jesus’ birth and getting to open presents. She was just as excited to see everyone else open a present as to get one herself. She was a little overwhelmed meeting all the extended family but pretty soon was right in the thick of the action. She got to experience her first big snow in Colorado and couldn’t get enough of it! She learned how to sled and eat snow with the best of them.
These last few months have been an incredible journey for our family as we have all taught Shas what it means to be in a family and watched her grow more and more comfortable with us. She is fitting right in and her English is coming along great. A couple mornings ago, she looked at Joel and said, “What are you doing, America Daddy?” We all got a huge chuckle out of that. Her favorite time of day is bedtime when we read a Bible story, pray together and then sing “Jesus Loves Me.” I love hearing her little accent as she belts out the words. I can only imagine how it pleases the Lord to hear her tiny little voice praising Him. I can’t wait til she really understands who Jesus is and how much He loves her.
2009 brings lots more travels for us. Unfortunately, I missed our first weekend out of ministry as I was down with quite an illness. I’m still recovering but we’re gearing up for a mini-tour down south starting this weekend. We’re looking forward to lots of events and some training and encouragement with our World Vision Artist Associate group. It will be good to see what God has been doing through World Vision this past year.
I trust you all had a wonderful holiday season with your families and are ready for the blessings and new things the Lord has in store for you this year!
